HO-8005B – New York Central and Hudson River Red Line Decals
Description
Bundled with our HO-2000B Series boxcar kit, these decals represent standard New York Central and Hudson River Railway cars lettered for Red Line fast freight service. This paint scheme was introduced in the early 1870s and were used on many NYC&HR cars in line service until the 1890s.
A precursor to national interchange, fast freight lines were agreements between railroads to share a pool of specifically marked cars over multiple routes. This helped avoid transloading shipments as the U.S. rail network expanded. The concept was developed in the 1860s as the transcontinental railroad was being completed. Eventually, as freight car design standards and roster records were standardized, fast freight lines were deemed unnecessary, in most cases by 1900.
Our water slide decals are printed with Ghost White toner in high resolution and respond well to most commercial decal setting solutions.
